STRETCHERS

The function of a stretchers is to provide a stable support for paintings of artwork on fabric, ie: linens and cotton duck.

It is important that a stretcher can be expanded by use of wedges or keys, not only to keep a tight canvas, which is aesthetically more appealing than a loose one, but also to provide longevity to the artwork.

Colour Square custom stretchers have sliding double-mitre joinery, and are able to be wedged. They can be manufactured to any size, style, shape and application.

Colour Square stretchers are produced from Cedar and Hoop Pine timber.
